Hulu is one of the most popular streaming services on the market, and it keeps adding options to improve your access to top content. With so many plans available, plus an ever-growing number of add-ons, it can be hard to keep track of Hulu's different rates.
Below, we've put together a chart detailing exactly what each of Hulu's four offerings — Basic, Premium, Basic + Live TV, and Premium + Live TV — will get you for your dollar. There's also an additional breakdown of Hulu's many add-ons.
If Hulu isn't enough, you can also read about how to get Hulu bundled with Disney Plus and ESPN+ for $14 a month.
How much is Hulu?
Hulu Basic costs just $7 a month or $70 a year, making it one of the cheapest streaming services on the market. College students can get this plan for even less, at just $2 a month. Hulu Basic offers ad-supported access to all of Hulu's on-demand programs. For ad-free streaming, you'll need to upgrade to Hulu Premium for $13 a month.
Though these current rates remain competitive, they are the result of a recent price increase. Hulu raised the monthly cost of its Basic and Premium plans by $1 on October 8, for both new and existing subscribers. Even with this change, Hulu is still cheaper than services like HBO Max ($10/month) and Netflix ($9/month).
Subscribers who want live TV in addition to Hulu's on-demand lineup also have a few options. Hulu Basic + Live TV costs $65 a month and adds over 75 channels of live TV — including Food Network, Discovery, Disney Channel, ESPN, CBS, NBC, Fox, and more. There's also an option for Hulu Premium + Live TV for $71 a month.
All four levels of service give you access to Hulu's entire catalog of on-demand shows and movies, including Hulu Originals like "The Handmaid's Tale" and "Nine Perfect Strangers," current TV favorites like "What We Do in the Shadows," and classic sitcoms like "I Love Lucy."
